SAINT MAXIMILIAN MARY KOLBE

Ordinary Time Week XIX Red

First Reading : Ez 16, 1-15. 60. 63

No se encontró el libro para la sigla: Ez

Psalm : Isa 12, 2-6

R. Your anger has passed, and you have comforted me.

12:2 See now, he is the God of my salvation I have trust now and no fear, for Yahweh is my strength, my song, he is my salvation.

12:3 And you will draw water joyfully from the springs of salvation.

12:4 That day, you will say: Give thanks to Yahweh, call his name aloud. Proclaim his deeds to the people, declare his name sublime.

12:5 Sing of Yahweh, for he has done marvellous things, let them be made known to the whole world.

12:6 Cry out for joy and gladness, you dwellers in Zion, for great in the midst of you is the Holy One of Israel.

Gospel : Mt 19, 3-12

19:3 Some Pharisees approached him, and to test him they said, ‘Is it against the Law for a man to divorce his wife on any pretext whatever?’

19:4 He answered, ‘Have you not read that the creator from the beginning made them male and female

19:5 and that he said: This is why a man must leave father and mother, and cling to his wife, and the two become one body?

19:6 They are no longer two, therefore, but one body. So then, what God has united, man must not divide’.

19:7 They said to him, ‘Then why did Moses command that a writ of dismissal should be given in cases of divorce?’

19:8 ‘It was because you were so unteachable’ he said ‘that Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but it was not like this from the beginning.

19:9 Now I say this to you: the man who divorces his wife – I am not speaking of fornication – and marries another, is guilty of adultery.’

Continence

19:10 The disciples said to him, ‘If that is how things are between husband and wife, it is not advisable to marry’.

19:11 But he replied, ‘It is not everyone who can accept what I have said, but only those to whom it is granted.

19:12 There are eunuchs born that way from their mother’s womb, there are eunuchs made so by men and there are eunuchs who have made themselves that way for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Let anyone accept this who can.’

Vigil of the Assumption

Ordinary Time White

First Reading : 1 Chr 15, 3-4. 15-16; 16, 1-2

15:3 Then David gathered all Israel together in Jerusalem to bring the ark of God up to the place he had prepared for it.

15:4 David called together the sons of Aaron and the sons of Levi:

15:15 and the Levites carried the ark of God with the shafts on their shoulders, as Moses had ordered in accordance with the word of Yahweh.

15:16 David then told the heads of the Levites to assign duties for their kinsmen as cantors, with their various instruments of music, harps and lyres and cymbals, to play joyful tunes.

16:1 They brought the ark of God in and put it inside the tent that David had pitched for it; and they offered holocausts before God, and communion sacrifices.

16:2 And when David had finished offering holocausts and communion sacrifices, he blessed the people in the name of Yahweh.

Psalm : Ps 131

R. Arise, Lord, come to your resting place.

Of David

131:1 Yahweh, my heart has no lofty ambitions, my eyes do not look too high. I am not concerned with great affairs or marvels beyond my scope.

131:2 Enough for me to keep my soul tranquil and quiet like a child in its mother’s arms, as content as a child that has been weaned.

131:3 Israel, rely on Yahweh, now and for always!

Second Reading : 1 Cor 15, 54-57

A hymn of triumph. Conclusion

15:54 When this perishable nature has put on imperishability, and when this mortal nature has put on immortality, then the words of scripture will come true: Death is swallowed up in victory.

15:55 Death, where is your victory? Death, where is your sting?[*d] .

15:56 Now the sting of death is sin, and sin gets its power from the Law.

15:57 So let us thank God for giving us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Gospel : Lk 11, 27-28

The truly happy

11:27 Now as he was speaking, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said, ‘Happy the womb that bore you and the breasts you sucked!’

11:28 But he replied, ‘Still happier those who hear the word of God and keep it!’
