MONDAY. OUR LADY OF THE PILLAR, feast
First Reading : 1 Chr 15, 3-4. 15-16; 16, 1-2
15:3 Then David gathered all Israel together in Jerusalem to bring the ark of God up to the place he had prepared for it.
15:4 David called together the sons of Aaron and the sons of Levi:
15:15 and the Levites carried the ark of God with the shafts on their shoulders, as Moses had ordered in accordance with the word of Yahweh.
15:16 David then told the heads of the Levites to assign duties for their kinsmen as cantors, with their various instruments of music, harps and lyres and cymbals, to play joyful tunes.
16:1 They brought the ark of God in and put it inside the tent that David had pitched for it; and they offered holocausts before God, and communion sacrifices.
16:2 And when David had finished offering holocausts and communion sacrifices, he blessed the people in the name of Yahweh.

The group of apostles
1:12 So from the Mount of Olives, as it is called, they went back to Jerusalem, a short distance away, no more than a sabbath walk;
1:13 and when they reached the city they went to the upper room where they were staying; there were Peter and John, James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Jude son of James.[*c]
1:14 All these joined in continuous prayer, together with several women, including Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.[*d]
Psalm : Ps 26
R. The Lord has crowned me upon the pillar and exalted me.
Of David
26:1 Yahweh, be my judge! I go my way in my innocence, My trust in Yahweh never wavers.
26:2 Test me, Yahweh, and probe me, put me to the trial, loins and heart;
26:3 for your love is before my eyes, and I live my life in loyalty to you.
26:4 No sitting with wastrels for me, no associating with hypocrites;
26:5 I hate the society of evil men, I refuse to sit down with the wicked.
26:6 I wash my hands in innocence and join the procession round your altar,
26:7 singing a hymn of thanksgiving, proclaiming all your wonders.
26:8 I love the house where you live, the place where your glory makes its home.
26:9 Do not let my soul share the fate of sinners, or my life the doom of men of blood,
26:10 men with guilt on their hands, whose right hands are heavy with bribes.
26:11 But I live my life in innocence, redeem me, Yahweh, take pity on me;
26:12 my foot is set on the right path, I bless you, Yahweh, at the Assemblies.
Gospel : Lk 11, 27-28
The truly happy
11:27 Now as he was speaking, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said, ‘Happy the womb that bore you and the breasts you sucked!’
11:28 But he replied, ‘Still happier those who hear the word of God and keep it!’
